The Hach Scientific Foundation would like to offer second career chemical education scholarships to chemists. The Hach Scientific Foundation is a private multi-million dollar foundation dedicated to chemistry and chemical education. The Hach Scientific Foundation provides scholarships across the country to chemists interested in pursuing either a Masters in education or teachers certificate. The requirements for scholarship acceptance are the following:
  • Applicant must have a Bachelors degree or higher in either chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering.
  • Applicant must have worked in a chemistry-related field.
  • Applicant must be in pursuit of become a chemistry teacher.
  • Applicant must be accepted into either an education masters program or teacher certification program.
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
The scholarship is $6,000 for each year pursuing an education degree for full-year full-time students and $3,000 for part-time students or part-year students. In order for prior accepted scholarship recipients to receive second year funding, just send us a copy of your transcript from the attending education school. As long as you maintain a 3.0 GPA, you will continue to receive support through graduation. The application requires four items:
  • Applicant's two page essay stating your interest in teaching.
  • Applicants resume and transcript.
  • Applicant's proof of acceptance into an education masters program.
  • Applicants' selection of a university including a timeline toward graduation.
K-12 education in the physical sciences is an under-resourced and under-manned profession in America. The Hach Scientific Foundation hopes you will consider pursuing this courageous career in sparking young minds toward wonders of chemistry!
