Joseph Lazenby
My name is Joseph Anthony Lazenby. My friends call me Tony. I have always loved chemistry; and, for the last year, I have become consumed with the idea of teaching the old fashioned way. But, the good news is that in Tennessee there is an alternative way to teach. In Tennessee, anyone with a degree can teach temporarily for three years. During those three years, the person teaching must procure a permanent teaching licenses. This is the path I am taking. If all goes to plan, I will graduate in May of 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Professional Chemistry with The American Chemical Society Endorsement. With this degree, I hope to immediately being teaching high school chemistry. Also, as soon as I graduate, I will being taking graduate courses so that I can obtain my Masters of Education (this process will take 33 semester hours over 3 years). With a Masters of Education and a few tests required by the Tennessee State Board of Education, I will have obtained a permanent teaching license for the State of Tennessee. This is my plan, my goal, and my intention.
