Maryam Moussaoui
My name if Maryam Moussaoui and I am a 3rd year chemistry student at Oregon State University. I am the oldest of five and both my parents are alumni of OSU. I was home-schooled and started college a year early. I started out my college career wanting to be a veterinarian; however, after doing some community work I found it more rewarding working with people. I volunteered with a campus club to promote science and math in younger children through hands on activities. I felt an inner sense of reward when I saw a child getting engaged in learning something and having fun at it. These experiences helped me decide to pursue a field in pediatric medicine. I believe being a doctor goes further than just the office visit. I want to show my young patients how to live their lives healthier. Many of the major illnesses are caused from our culturally unhealthy life styles.

Nicole Rae Tanguileg
I was born and raised in Sacramento, California in 1987. In my large high school, I was a top honors student and track and soccer athlete. Growing up as a natural in working with people all throughout school as tutors and such, I have always known that being a teacher would be a career that would always bring me satisfaction. Then, I had the most influential teacher of my life stating my freshman year of high school and I took a class from her every year after that. She taught my chemistry and forensic science classes and was just well rounded in her knowledge of everything. It was then that I fell in love with chemistry and admired her ability to teach and touch my life. It is because of her that I chose chemistry as my major at Oregon State.
