Eman Haggag
Eman Haggag is a 17-year-old sophomore at the University of Maryland. Born in the crowded suburbs of Maryland to Egyptian parents, Eman has since moved twice in her life to experience the contrasting lifestyles of America and Saudi Arabia. She is the youngest of four that share a similar passion in teaching and science. She was first exposed to the wonders of Chemistry in 9th grade, when her professor simply explained the difficult concepts portrayed in class. Her desire to teach has been influenced by the many educators in her life, from her sister, brother, father, and many chemistry professors. Eman has attended several types of schools in her lifetime, which has exposed her to different schooling techniques as well as diverse populations. Today, she lives in the growing city of Germantown and is pursuing a degree in Chemistry and Education. She plans on influencing high school students to become motivated and to experience the simplicity in Chemistry that her previous professors exposed.

Jill Ann Dehnert Olmstead
I am a veteran having served two years in the United States Air Force. I received an honorable medical discharge.

For the past year I have been student-teaching AP Chemistry part-time at Northwestern High School in Prince George's County, Maryland. My experience at Northwestern solidified my desire to pursue a career in teaching high school. I plan to continue student-teaching this year and finish my degree.

My desire to teach is not simply motivated by my love of chemistry but also by the satisfaction I get in helping change students' lives. This year my mentor teacher and I spent a small portion of class time each week helping our students with their college applications, essays, and federal student aid (FAFSA) applications. I am particularly proud of one of my students who I helped earn an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he is currently a plebe (freshman).
