should also be included in that list. In many ways, I believe that science has enriched my life by opening my eyes to the wonders of the world and opening my brain to think. Since science has taught me to critically think, it allows me to grapple with issues from every subject. Most importantly, science has
instilled in me a desire to know more about everything-and that everything includes art, poetry, and music.
I look around me and see so many people without that wide-eyed curiosity of the world, that walk through life with apathy and simply drowning in boredom. That's not a life I would wish for anyone. I have this desire to show them that there's more to the world than that. Since science has played such a huge role in enriching my life, I want to share that with others. Teaching provides me the opportunity to do so. I hope through teaching that I can reach students and spark their curiosity. I want to instill in them a desire to seek out knowledge and experiences. Of all the sciences, I'm most passionate about chemistry, and that enthusiasm is contagious. It'll grab students' attention. That's why I chose to be a chemistry teacher. Now, as a student teacher I find myself getting very protective of my students. The WASL is a much bigger driving force in the Washington schools than I thought. I can't leave my students to the mercy of the system!
